A typical Campbell weekend :

Tuesday was a funny day, but it all started Monday. My car battery died and basically had to get jumped everywhere i went. Later that evening we tried to charge it, but to no avail. 

I was going to Salt Lake on Tuesday to see a group of designers talk about their experiences while designing everything for the Beijing olympics. It would have been really neat. Instead, we had to get a new battery, which ate up my trip money. 

So, it made Tuesday quite an adventure. I had arranged with work to have the day off, (I had a dentist appointment that morning) so why let it go to waste? 

In the morning, I went over to get some work done. I came out numb and shaky and silly. I went home for a sec hoping the numb and silliness would wear off. Upon inspecting out car the night before, we found out our car was due for a lot of things. So, I took it for an oil change. It was funny, because i couldn't talk or smile at all, and of course, all guys where there.... haha

It was like Spring Break 06 all over again. (For those who know what i'm talking about...ahem)

AND, to make matters worse, in the little fishbowl of a waiting room, the movie that was playing was of course, Madagascar. 

FYI, I LOVE Madagascar. It's one of those movies that makes me laugh out loud no matter what. So, you can see my predicament. Half of a mouth that works, guys everywhere that can see me bust a gut over a kids' movie... I did my best though, and survived. 

Next on my stop was food shopping, and of course, everyone i ever knew was there.... You can only imagine how that went. . . awkward. but, I lived, numb mouth, canvas bags and all. :)

Anyway, so we has a great weekend too. We went to Salt Lake to have some fun and see some family. We attended the exhibit "From Monet to Picasso" and it was mind-blowing! We're talking about the real deal here. Real Picassos, real Monets, real Dalis, real Van Goughs, real Mondrians.... It was cool

After that, we spent some time with my best roomie, Becky and we went to the State Fair.

That time of the year

So, yesterday marks 2 years since the perfect day. Cody and I were married in the St. George temple August 18, 2006 at noon. :) It was an awesome day, perfect, weather and all. It is so crazy to think that time has already gone by so fast. We are learning so much, and it's been such a fun time. (without trying to go overboard here). He is definitely my other half.












We had a great weekend by the way. We mostly took it easy and bought some home theater toys, watched the Olympics, and cooked and dined excellent meals. This time of year is exciting because it is a time to remember the things that really matter to us, and to celebrate the future. (by wedding and birthdays) Also, it's a time when school starts back up, but that happy time has passed for me, so Cody gets to enjoy it double time.

Today is Cody's birthday. He's 25 today! Of course, Cody is how he is, and doesn't want to do anything hinting at the word birthday. So, i made him a cake. A little pitiful, but it works.

Books.

Nothing new or exciting has been going on... but I picked up a skill that i learned in school. It's NOT scrapbooking, it's not a step-by-step box craft, it's book arts. Book arts is basically making books, from sewing pages together to making the book covers and gluing them together to make an actual book. We actually had a class on this at school, where we learned to make all different kinds. Recently, i started making a couple just for kicks, and because it's fun. a good classic hobby i suppose.

Anyway, here's what i've been up to:

ok. first item of business:


GO SEE THE DARK KNIGHT. GO SEE IT. NOW!




It will probably scare you, but it's a really great movie. Very well-made and believable. I was very giddy about this movie before it came out, and when I left the theater, i was in absolute awe and kept thinking about it days afterward. All of the characters were real and larger-than-life. Ledger did an incredible job, like everyone says, but of course, I think my homeboy Christian Bale was the best. :)
I don't really get that excited about things, but this one makes me crazy. You should have seen me. . . or maybe not. haha.



So, in other words, we saw Batman, and fell in love with movies again.

another great movie we saw recently was "3:10 to Yuma". It's a gritty old western made beautifully I thought. And, of course, when you have people like Russell Crowe, Ben Foster, and the Bale, you def. can't go wrong. Plus, from a 'design snob' standpoint, signage and posters, the DVD cover and menu look awesome. Just an all-around well put together package.

Second item of business:
The month has just flown by. we've been out of town every weekend for over a month. oops. It's been nice to see family (in the good and the bad) and just to be able to relax with them.I don't know about you guys, but i have the best in-laws. (what a sterile word....) but i really think of them as my own family and really think a lot of them. I don't get all the 'dread the in-law' jokes. . .

anyway, as you know, i am a designer, and seldom talk about it. I guess i don't have much to say. but, i was experimenting w. certain Photoshop techniques and came up with this. It's Sara, my little niece.



It's a fun life.

Third item of business: (more or less)

Stop Using plastic bags.



Pick up some canvas bags and reuse them. I'm not sure why i'm even talking about this (must be the allergy meds kicking in...) but Cody and I use canvas bag when we go shopping, and feel in some small way, are making the wold a better place. haha It's easy, convenient (despite the odd looks we get), and no more lame plastic bags floating around the house.

Hmmmm.... i think that's what's up. We work, we come home, I run, we watch whatever RedBox has to offer, and then go to bed. We get up, and do it all over again. However, as monotonous as this sounds, we are so happy. It's been almost 2 years since the wedding day. So crazy. We are so happy.

July, so far

This month has proven to be a crazy-busy, but fun one! We kicked off the month by celebrating our nation's independence in Blanding, UT. It was really fun because my brother and sister got to go too, along with all of Cody's family. I love going to Blanding for the 4th of July because of the small-town feel, and because they basically go all-out. The day started with a parade filled with floats, ATV's and people in larger-than-life trucks. Right after that there is a food fair-deal where all kinds of food is sold, along with games and fun everywhere. After a good rest, we went to a "Melodrama", which was actually really fun and entertaining. We had just enough time to head over to the baseball fields and get a great spot for the fireworks. In Blanding, the fireworks are pretty elaborate. They go on forever. There is a live band and the whole town comes out again for a great time. We loved it.
Also, on out Blanding vacay, we gave Ryan and Emily the grand tour. We went to an awesome dinosaur museum, checked out the Monticello temple, and of course, the local Alco. Good times, good times. . .
The drive, of course was long, but the weather was really rainy and stormy, which made the trip that much more exciting. (in my opinion at least...)
Then, we just spent this weekend with more of Cody's family at a family reunion. Those are always really fun and just a great excuse to go camping. Cody's family is so awesome. They are always so nice and funny. (and great cooks!) It was great.

It seems like every weekend we have not been home. it's great. Maybe not so great for our ward..... and our callings..... but it's so nice to get away, especially in the summer. Unfortunately, i think our crazy weekends have come to a close. I think there are a couple here and there, but nothing like the past month. oh well, back to life we come.

Yellerstone (and then some)

Are you as tired as i am of looking at that chimp?? haha

So, we just came back from a very awesome, very relaxing vacation. I know the title says 'Yellerstone', but we did SO much more than that. Allow me to elaborate:

ok, on Friday after what seemed like forever we left for Manti to check out the pageant up there. I had never been, so it seemed like a good idea. It was really... interesting. haha. it was good, and entertaining. I'll leave it at that. After the pageant, we wandered up to Salt Lake to spend the night w. my favorite people, the Campbells/Todds, whatever. The next morning we took off for wider and greener pastures (literally). it was such a crazy day, it seemed like all that could slow us down did, with one car crash after another, make traffic really slow. But, we got there eventually in one piece. We stayed in a cabin outside of the park, which was pretty cool.

It all would have been flawless, if i hadn't been such a freak about bugs. The Mosquitoes were everywhere, like it was a wall or something. Needless to say, i didn't go outside unless i had to...or it was the middle of the day haha. I only got away with 2 bites, which is a record low for me.

After a quiet Sunday, we ventured into the park and saw some really awesome things. Cody and I had never been there before, and everyone else had, so they knew right where to go. We saw so much that day from all kinds of wildlife to bubbling geysers, to endless beauty of waterfalls, cliffs, rolling hills and monstrous lakes. it was cool.







We went to Old Faithful, and faithful she was. we spent some time there and just toured different parts of the park. After a long day of beauty our day, ended of course with backed up traffic from another accident in the park. it was kind of fun to just hang out and explore. We slept good that night.













The next day we started slowly back home. we stopped and checked out some of the Idaho temples and ran into one of Cody's old mission companions. We finally made it back to SLC and god a hold of one of my best roomies who just came home from a mission like 2 days before. We decided to stay in SLC and hang with her the next.
It was so good to see her and to catch up. We got home yesterday and had an awesome vacation. We did SO much. Now it's back to the old grind--sorta. July is going to be a busy month. I'll keep you 'posted' haha. i kill myself. . . :S
