hmmm....
what's new, what's new.... school (classes) are over! Next week is finals week, and then the big day (dun dun dun!) It's a little odd, i must admit. What am i going to do with myself after this?? I usually LOVE school, and everything that has to do with it. BUT, at this point, i'm ready for a good break. I plan on working at LearnKey still, making that magic, and then silently be in pursuit for another local job. I love LearnKey and all, but it might be time for a change soon. I really wish i could just move on to grad school, and get that ball rolling, but i'm afraid that won't be possible for at least a couple of years.. or something. For the time being, I'll just be the bread winner and Cody can just focus on school. Good deal i think.
My mac is amazing. Yeah, i'm geeking out about it, but what can you do? i've been wanting one forever, and now i am free to create and design freely, and not be bound to a school lab, or at home. It's a beautiful thing.
Emily, my sister is SO cool. She comes to visit me every other weekend, and we have a blast when she comes, or I pay a visit down south. This weekend, she qualified to compete in a track meet SUU puts on every year. She is constantly taking first in Javallin (sp?) and doing really well. Sadly, she will be attending DSC (not SUU) in the fall, but she's on the track team there, and she has a sweet scholarship. So, i guess that works.
Cody is decent. haha We still are one-car-ing it, and he's really considering his options now... which are many. He went on a school trip recently to salt lake to tour some major electronics companies and enjoyed it... enough. Poor boy got sick and had a miserable time, but tried to make the best of it. He's good now, just like me, trying to survive this last part of school. We can really use a good break. Our days are so robotic and routine. We see each other in the mornings and nights. (I guess a little more since we have to share a car...but you get it.)
Finals week....will be interesting. I have 4 finals, 2 on one day, and the rest along the week. They are all art projects, and so far, I am nearly done with the one that is due last, and not even close with the ones that are due right up. go figure. So, this weekend, after some careful planning, I will be at the mercy of Drawing 2 and Senior Portfolio/Publication design stuff. lame. I am building a book...a portfolio book. (we are supposed to make one before we leave school, originally just a start.) And me, being the overachiever that i am, decided to just make the book, start to finish. I know it's possible, so we'll see what happens.
The Portfolio show opening went well. It was a little awkward to stand around while people looked at my stuff, and it was SO crowded, but it was good overall. I'll have to get some pictures of my very own little display.
That's about it, we work, we learn, we eat, we sleep. We get up and do it again.

Basically...
I suck at making chocolate chip cookies. They taste normal, but they look like poo.
Maybe i should just stick to my prized peanut butter cookies....
... which really are the bomb.

"Her royal highness Clare of Campbell...."
Is graduating from college in 1 MONTH. scary stuff guys....
So, the printing went great. My stuff is at the gallery as we speak, and getting ready to glow. Can you tell I'm relieved? Now I can focus on regular things like drawing II and printmaking, and a smaller bookmaking assignment. Oh, and my grad. announcements too. Anyone wanna come? give me your address, and iI'll get one to you. :)
WHEW! on to other things. . . I'm finally getting my mac. you heard it. my laptop should get here tomorrow, or sometime after that. It's a beautiful day outside in Cedar City, and I'm getting everything done i set out to do today.
I also got my hair trimmed. yes i did. the last time i cut my hair of any kind was a year ago in January when i chopped off my long locks for a change and for Locks of Love. i measured my hair before I made the big cut, and then a year later i measured it again and it was the same! so cool. so, anyway, I figured after a year of growing and stuff, my hair was SO due for a good cutting. i just trimmed it, and it felt AMAZING. haha i sound like a freak or something, but seriously it made all the difference. I feel good.
Cody's truck is dead. poor guy can't get a break for anything. it happened at the END of spring break too. So, we've been doing the one-car thing for a while, and it's been ok. He can fix it... but he just doesn't have any time for it, you know? one of these days...
One of the things that has dawned on me lately (i have no idea why either) is that i am still attractive to people!(more like boys, haha) I know this sounds stupid and vain, but for some reason, i just figured that after i got married, i would just be me, and not have to worry about impressing anyone or whatever. But, as of lately, i have been getting a lot more attention than normal.... what the heck. The whole art dept. knows I'm happily married, and there's the couple few that give me the vibe. Does anyone else go this? i think it's flattering and all, but they are just a day too late and a dollar short. At the same time, it's amusing. I guess i still got it! haha. (yeah....)
ok, ok. i talk too much sometimes.

s t o r y o f m y l i f e!
So, my whole 'homemade' magazine endeavor didn't work. after LOTS of trial and error, it just didn't work. Turns out the paper I was using was 1/4in. shorter than i needed, thus making my 2-sided printing off by 1/4 of an inch. (my hubby's a genious. He figured all this out). SO LAME! with patience and paper coming to an uncommon low, I opted for Staples to try and save my project. I won't see the final results until later, but i really hope it comes out.
oh yeah, all this talk about printing and magazines are not just mindless ramble. For those just tuning in, I am graduating this semester from SUU, and as a requirement for graduation, the graduating seniors have to gather their best work from over the years and make them perfect to put in a gallery show, to show off how great we are. I am on schedule with all i have to do, and alls i have left to go is to print and put together a magazine I completely designed myself. The show starts on April 10th, here at the SUU Braithwaite gallery. It runs til graduation day, May 3rd. So, if you have nothing else to do, or if you have to, COME! it'll be really great.

Yeah. . . about that. . .
SO, The other night i dreamt that I was en route to Santiago, Chile. The thing was, we HAD to get there in a straight line, and by some way or another. We made numerous stops here and there, but by the time i woke up, we hadn't made it. sad story.
In real news, 3 days til the deadline for turning in work for the senior portfolio show. I really couldn't be happier either. The sooner this is completed the better. I thankfully put myself of a pretty straight and narrow schedule this semester so I wouldn't be rushing and freaking out at the very end. I fixed what i needed to, rebuild stuff i needed to, and alls i have left to go is to print a magazine. (it's more complicated that it sounds).
Any other normal person would have just taken their file to a printing place and gotten it done, lickety-split. But, of course it just wouldn't be me if i didn't do things the more challenging way: Doing it all myself. I went on quite the adventure to get the paper i needed, and so i'm going to print it myself, 2 sided, then fold it, and then either sew it together or just staple it. I haven't quite decided yet. The printer i'm using is HUGE and complicated, and the last time i used it, it seriously took me 3 hours to print a liitle book i made. So, i'm thinking the same time or more for this one too. However long this takes, the result is AWESOME. SO, in long, it's worth it. (Plus, in my mind, for something to be truly 'mine', i have to assemble it completely by myself, it's just a product from the local Staples or Image Pro.) I'm odd.
Other than that taking center stage in life, there have been some good breaks. I went to Vegas a couple of times for a wedding and also for kicks. Here's some from the wedding trip:

it was fun. The second time, my mom and i went for fun a few days after my birthday. we totally shopped and walked 'til we couldn't anymore. Literally. Our feet hurt for a couple of days after that. haha

The b-day was good. had a party at work, then the fam. came up for some good times. i don't like the number 22 i decided though. It may be even, but it's still odd to me.
My sister competed in the Miss Native American Dixie pageant this weekend. It was really cool to be apart of that stuff again. It brought back so many memories of my time as Miss Native American SUU. She didn't get the title, but she was just fine with that. Good sport.
AND POW WOWS FOR ALL....
The SUU pow wow was fun too. . .

I guess this is what i get for being a lazy poster. A super long post. SO much has happened this month. it was a good one :D

When you're quiet, no one proves you wrong
Time is just going by! Ahhhhhhhh!
The freakout is mainly because all of my 4 years (basically) of portfolio work have to be perfect in a month exactly. scary. I'm in alright shape for it, it's just overwhelming to think about it.
So I try not to.
This stuff will be hanging in a gallery with other immaculate, perfect works. It's a little odd. but i think i will be just fine,(as my mom tells me, along with 'pray about it'). good thing for that.
As crazy as it all sounds, i have been thinking about how much time has gone by, and pretty soon, i will have NO idea what to do next. I plan on working at LearnKey for a while after i graduate, but from there... who knows. I keep thinking about this 'rush time', and how i should enjoy it while I still can. I know that as soon as i'm done, and life is cruising, i'll be bored, and i'll miss ALL of the good times. Don't you hate that?
I do.
Life outside of school is great. Work is fun as always, and Cody and I make up for lost time whenever we can. I have my little projects that keep me going, and we now teach the Gospel Doctrine class in church. It's a funny little calling because we (each) teach about once a month basic, basic gospel principles. Sometimes it's hard to stretch a topic that everyone knows about into an hour... but it works out enough. It's been fun and very strengthening to get back to the basics and evaluate what i am doing and not doing.
I feel good.
This weekend we are going to Vegas to attend a wedding. it'll be a fun getaway. Odd timing for a wedding, (especially in all of my portfolio madness). but i like a good break every now and then (more like every weekend) :S You know, being a soccer mom is sounding sweeter and sweeter everyday. Playtime, all the time. (or so I think).
I'm hopeless. haha
Anyway, I think I've spilled enough beans for now.

To avoid a little confusion...
I DON'T have asthma.
haha.
ok seriously. I like the show Man Vs.Wild, and the show alone. There just happens to be an extremely handsome, and outdoorsy british man on it. But really, i LOVE the show, and all of the cool little things you learn on it. I think of little tips and stuff all the time. it's really a good one. I just went a little overboard the other day by stumbling upon some great pictures. (and i mean great.)
haha.
SO, for your enjoyment, here are other pics that should be up :

How's THAT for clare and cody overload??
haha.
Happy Valentines Day everyone.

MY ASTHMA! (if i had it)

So, i seriously stopped breathing when i found these.
lame, lame, lame i know. but oh man.
these are from mens vogue, and i LOVE how they made this whole 'man vs city' theme, with a great guy mixed with high fashion. (can't get any better than that)
beautiful. just beautiful.
In other news, life is great now. We just spent the weekend goofing off with the in-laws and baby. It was SO much fun. Alls we did was hang out, eat and laugh, but it was so nice to see them, and just relax. Today was a little hard to get back to real life, but it has to happen at some point.
I am the WORST homework doer this semester! why??
yeah, this says a lot about my work ethic... i really need to fix that, or i'll be in some really deep water here soon. i have less classes than normal this semester, but somehow this is WAY more challenging than a buttload of a day. come on clare....
hagoone for now,

Looky Looky!
SO, what do you think? I love it (if i haven't said it enough already) I spent a ton of time working on the code, and i can say that it worked. (Too bad i can't say the same for my homework...)
Ok, anyway, here's what's been happening. Classes are all meshing together... and that isn't a good thing. i need more motivation to get through all this. Or else 'll be getting a ton of those 'i'm not mad, i'm disappointed" looks from a couple of trusted, loved professors.
Please, please, not that.
In other things, life is great.
yeah.
till next time,

The kid next to me is watching Rat Race. I'm jelous. :N
school, school, school.
I am trying to keep senioritis away from me. Because if it takes over, I am done for. Here's my take on what madness lies ahead:
Drawing II. eh, i think it'll be a good class. Drawing has slipped down a few notches on my list of talents, so it'll be a good challenge. A lot of it is very basic though. Line, color, shape, vanishing points, values, the list goes on.
Senior Portfolio. Confusing. we meet once a week, talk about the perfect portfolio, and then leave. They pick apart our work, and then set us free (in ALL the time we have) and make it better. I hope more structure will come. ..
Silkscreen. This class is a lot of fun. A lot of it is hands-on work, carving, old-fashioned printing, and lots of chemicals. It more of a class about the 'craft' of art, and making prints, and not just digitally making something up in 5 minutes. For some reason, it's really relaxing too.
Publication design. I took this class before, but this time the class is focusing on book arts, and book making, and not so much magazine design and the like. I really like this one too. it's very much about the 'craft' of book making, and the stories that are told in these books. I chose to use a part from "The Odyssey" (Takes me back to 6th grade). It's coming along, but a lot more work involved. I like it though. Hopefully, i'll get a good product out of it.
So yeah, all that in addition to working, and vowing to go to the gym more... i have just enough time to go home at the end of my day, eat something and then crash. Wake up, and do it all over again. Cody's schedule is a little more lax this semester...lucky. but now he has more time to do other things.
In other news, we are coming up on our 'year and a half' thingy since our wedding. it's fun. Cody thinks it's unnecessary, (to celebrate) but it's an excuse to take it easy and reminisce on that beautiful, perfect, beautiful day and all of the things that happened. (my BEST memories).
Other than that, we're just trying to get through the semester. We keep thinking that after this part is out of the way, things will be a little smoother. (we always think that.... haha). We're starting to think of what to do next (move, get better jobs, change cities.... baby...) who knows. NO one flip their lid yet. It's all just talk for now.
So, I was randomly reading about Utah high school basketball, and the current standings... and WOW. people are sure obsessed about their little teams here! a lot of trash talk went around about north vs. south, 1A vs 5A, blah blah blah....I wish I could have that 1/2 hour or so back. Seriously.
Anyway, no dreams at all about whatever it was i was talking about previously. I am '219' dream free. others, however have been able to show on my internal silver screen. (They are seriously movie worthy. haha). but i'll spare you those details.
Enough rambling for now.
hagoone sikis.

Why does the OxyClean guy always have to shout??
seriosuly.
haha best question i've heard in a long time.
here's the golden answer:
"Maybe people would buy it if he wouldn't act like a grenade went off 5 ft. from his ear."
Anyway, thank you for courtesy laughing at my last post. I quite enjoyed it.
Life has been good otherwise, Just vacationing and working a ton. B-town was fun, and i got some cool things. I spent new years with my family, and had so much fun.
Cool movies to go see:
I am Legend
National Treasure 2
I thought both were really good and entertaining. I liked I am Legend better, because it scared the heck out of me, and i lie putting myself through that kind of stuff i guess. . . anyway, go see them if you haven't yet. I highly recommend both for your viewing pleasure. :)
Other than that, school is starting up again on Monday. It's bittersweet, cause it's been fun just working and playing, but it's about time school started again too. I don't think it'll be too bad, and if anything, this is it. Then grad. Too weird.
Anyway, Life is great, so is work, and i'm SOOO tired right now. haha.
Have a happy Thursday! (you know I will:)

LearnKey! (and then some...)
We seriously have the BEST parties ever. The other day we had a Christmas party, and we had to draw names, and whoever we got we had to make as a sock puppet. It sounded a little odd at first, but it was soo funny when we got back together and showed them off. so, I got Bart, and here is me dying laughing cause i thought i wasn't in the pic. but turns out, i really was. :)
good times. . . . yeah, I have no idea what order these are in, but enjoy anyway. Some are of what my puppet tuned out to be, some of me making my puppet, some of our boss Wyett and his creepy identical puppet. haha.
So, in other times, it snowed last night, like a buttload. We went to St.G to spend some time w. my family, and it was pouring rain. When we finally came back to Cedar (oh, about 2 am??) We were donefor with a good 6 inches and more falling. This morning there was about 8 inches or so, maybe more. but yeah, talk about random. . .
Today is our 'Going to Blanding' day. With all of this wacky weather, who knows what we'll be in for, but i think i'll let Cody drive this one. I HATE driving in snow (and talking on the phone). It never works out for me. haha Anyway, we will be in glorious Blanding til wed. Then it's back to the old grind.
Welp, life is good, getting my Christmas card done so I can send it out to everyone and their dogs... (Please be it. . .) haha

Everyone have a great holiday, be safe, and be amazing.

Finally!
so. . . .
I made it. (and my blog is all sleeky-looking too :)
The semester is over, and i made it.
It was soo cold outside too, and I made it. haha
Let's see, let's see. . .
My man vs wild site is complete.
http://art.web.suu.edu/clarebarker/project3/manvswild2.html
check it out. :)
haha. gotta love it.
So, the family is good, and so is Cody. We both are so tired, but glad school is done for now. For me, it's only one more semester, and then on to the real world. oh goodness. I don't think the world is quite ready for Clare Campbell Design just yet.
For the holidays, we are heading over the no-man's land, otherwise known as Blanding.
haha. It's a quite, small town, but it's always fun to see the in laws and laugh our butts off.
Hmmm. . . what else?? Nothing really. Just the same old good times, and laughs. Not too many dreams, only a couple. But life is still good. I'm making nothing of it, which is momentous of sorts. I hope this lasts.
Have a great holiday, i'll be back sometime :)

gone deep
21 deep questions that could really tell you something.
[ Not simple questions like "How Old Are You?" ]
1. What is more difficult for you; looking into someone’s eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someone’s eyes when they are telling you how they feel?
eh, the first one. i think. I HATE eye contact in general. Who invented that anyway? i think I can handle the second one, cause it's them that's in the hot seat.
2. Think of the last time you were REALLY angry.
Doesn't happen that much. I never get really angry. I get annoyed, forget about it, then move on. Life's too short for stuff like that.
3. You are on a flight from Honolulu to Chicago non-stop. There is a fire in the back of the plane. You get enough time to make ONE phone call. Who would you call?
hmmm I would call my family. And then have them pass it on to Cody, or something like that.
4. You are at the doctor's office and she has just informed you that you have one month to live.
(A)Do you tell anyone/everyone you are going to die?
no, I'd tell a few that matter the most.
(B) What do you do with your remaining days?
live it up. be w. family, come clean w. people and fix my life the best i could in a month.
(C) Would you be afraid?
at first, but then realize the big picture, and hope that i did enough.
5. You can have one of the following two things: trust/love.
trust. It's the foundation of love. Without it, love just sucks.
6. You are walking down the street on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal on the side of the street. Your boss has told you if you are late one more time you get fired. What do you do?
what do you think?
7. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Europe. and too see Bear Grylls. haha
8. Think of the last person who you really knew that died. You have the chance to give them 1 hour of life back, but you have to give one year of your life. Do you?
yes. anything for a game of fetch and playing and scratching in the head. And to apologize i guess too.
9. Are you the kind of friend that you would want to have as a friend?
I hope so. I try to give my best, but sometimes i'm just lame.
10. Does love = sex?
no.
11. Your best friend dies, what would you do?
i'd be sad! (which one?) I'd be lonely either way, and extremely heartbroken another way.
12. When and how was the last time you told someone HONESTLY how you felt?
saturday.
13. What would be harder for you to tell someone you love them or that you do not love them back?
the second one. I was the WORST at that stuff. I would always lead them along, and then dump them at the worst possible time. silly me.
15. Excluding romantic love, when was the last time you told someone you loved them?
sunday. mom.
16. If you had to go back in time and change one thing, if you HAD to, even if you had "no regrets" what would it be?
first kiss. I wouldn't have done it.
17. Imagine. It is a dark night, you are alone, it is raining outside, you hear someone walking around outside your window. Who do you call?
Cody. it might be him . . .
18. Would you give a homeless person CPR if they were dying?
i would.
19. Are you old fashioned?
YES. and a hopeless romantic.
20. Which would you choose, true love with a guarantee of a heart break or have never loved before?
hmm.... i'd go w. love. "it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all".
21. If you could do anything OR wish for anything that would come true, what would you do?
i can't tell you that. BUT, I want somehow to be really good at what i do, to be well-known, but not famous, and to be a soccer mom at the same time.

Leap into the void.

Ahhhhhhh..... the break.
So, I made it to Thanksgiving. It hasn't been too bad actually. Life's been cruising and i got everything done that i needed to. If there was anything to be thankful for . . .
After that, there's like 2 more weeks of school, then the semester break. AND THEN, one more semester. how crazy is that?? I really don't want to think about it.
Today, I'm spending the day at LearnKey, wasting their money because there is nothing to do. But we have to be here, so what's up with that? I don't know. But i know Photoshop tons better now, and some Flash. I'm getting my papers done (art history and theory, hence the picture), so i guess it works. if I were at home, none of this would prolly get done so easily.
Were spending our break at the Barkers. The best place on earth. We get to eat, laugh, relax, and shop most likely. it's great. After that, it's back to the old grind, and tuning up old projects that desperately need it. My Man vs. Wild site is finished and was unveiled yesterday. It's not perfect, but it works, and I love it. (that's all that matters, right?) www.art.web.suu.edu.
All that madness aside, it seems my brain is trying to get me into some trouble, or tell me something, but I have NO idea. maybe it speaks another language. . . but yeah. the dreams. I suppose they'll just be around 'til I'm out of school, and that mentality. So, i need to get to that point i guess, and not trip and fall. This all sounds weird, i know; especially since i rant on and on about them all the time. I guess it's just habit
Hagoone sikis, and have a great Thanksgiving. :)
